What is a complete street? FHWA and Caltrans are promoting complete streets as a means to achieve our goals for safety, livability, sustainability, equity, and more. This workshop will introduce participants to the core concept, provide instruction on planning and design considerations for the safety of all modes, discuss examples and illustrations, and foster discussion to help participant see opportunities to advance complete streets for their state or community.
This course challenges you to explore the tools used to assess and evaluate the suitability of a transportation route and facilitate its use by all types of bicyclists. Instruction will review California’s commitment to supporting all modes of transportation and provides an overview of basic bicycle planning and design standards, guidance, and tools. Build awareness of complete streets and Caltrans priorities and increase understanding of disparate needs of all modes.
