The Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) has been developed by UC Berkeley Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC) to provide quick, easy and free access to California crash data, the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) that has been geo-coded by SafeTREC to make it easy to map out crashes.
Over the past several years, the ATRC has worked with SafeTREC to develop an ATP-TIMS Tool to display bicycle and pedestrian crashes along a proposed project boundary in a heat map relative to that specific community. This allows for a data-driven methodology to evaluate a proposed project’s likely impact on future safety of active transportation users.
