Getting Your Foot in the Door with Principals and School Boards: Resources and Lessons Learned
When children get to and from school by walking or bicycling, there are benefits for their health, physical activity levels, and academic achievement. However, sometimes principals, school board members and superintendents don’t understand how walking and bicycling is relevant to their mission. ATARC and the Safe Routes to School National Partnership have interviewed school administrators and researched the connections that bring meaning and relevance to influential decision-makers of Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs. Whether your Safe Routes to School program is new, existing, or just newly funded and still an idea, you will benefit from this lively discussion and sharing focused on creating support for your program.
