August 27, 2025, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

The ATRC invites you to its next webinar to learn about two California health databases that can be used to demonstrate need and provide additional context when applying for the Active Transportation Program. The speakers will demonstrate how to use the Healthy Places Index and Epi Center databases.

The Healthy Places Index can be used to understand your community’s public health and health equity needs and allows users to explore conditions statewide, at multiple geographies down to the census tract level.

EpiCenter is an interactive database that include injuries that resulted in an emergency department visit, hospitalization, or death. It can be used to view trends in pedestrian, bicycle, and traffic injuries at the state and county level.

Speakers:

  • Helen Dowling, MPH, Director of Data Initiatives, Public Health Alliance of Southern California
  • Mar-y-sol Pasquiers, MPH, CPH, Injury Epidemiologist, Injury and Violence Prevention Branch, California Department of Public Health
